PADI Scuba Diving Courses Offered

Discover Scuba Diving

This course takes only half a day and is a quick and basic introduction to scuba diving. It's perfect for those people who really don't know if scuba diving is for them and think that breathing underwater might freak them out!

The programme consists of a short talk on scuba diving and its basic safety principals, after that you will go into shallow water with an instructor and practice a few necessary skills to stop any problems that might occur under water. This part also gives you a little confidence to go diving. The last and mostexciting part is the dive; here you will swim over a beautiful coral reef under the direct supervision of an experienced instructor.

The best part about the Discover Scuba diving course is that you can use it as credit towards gaining the Open Water certification, which is the first step in becoming a PADI diver!

Open Water Certification

The course takes about 3-4 days and is an all-round introduction to scuba diving. After you have finished this course you will be recognised all over the world as a certified scuba diver and will be able to prove so with a photographic PADI certification card.

The programme consists of some knowledge development in the form of reading from a text book (most languages are available) and answering a few quizzes; a series of confined water sessions where you will kneel with an experienced instructor and practice a few 'skills' to enable you to deal with problems underwater, swim better and generally raise your confidence levels of being in this new environment. Lastly your course will include four exciting open water dives which we are sure will leave you wanting more.

Please note: you must be able to swim to gain an Open Water certification and a short swimming test is also included.

Advanced Open Water

For all you wannabe fish who have passed your Open Water and want to improve your skill level, opening up new diving possibilities, this course is for you!

The Advanced Open Water consists of 5 Adventure Dives, and after completing the short knowledge reviews your instructor will take you on an exciting journey from diving at night-time, to deep diving, to maybe diving on a sunken ship wreck! Also recognised world-wide this course will allow you to dive more extreme dive sites and give you a higher level of knowledge and confidence of the underwater world. Serious fun!

Emergency First Response & Rescue Diver

So, you love to dive and you love diving with others, the next step is to look after yourself and others whist doing what you enjoy. The rescue diver course takes around 4 days, and that includes one full day of Emergency First Response training.

Emergency First Response is an internationally recognised first aid training course which teaches you basic first aid skills such as
mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation). It is a great qualification to have anyway, but necessary to hold this before starting the PADI Rescue course itself.

The main part of the Rescue course is the practice of various scenarios and real life emergency situations when a rescue needs to take place. You are the rescuer and the instructor teaches you what to do in order to save the day - step aside David Hassleholf! The course finishes on a final practical exam.

PADI Dive Master

The Dive Master qualification is one of the most prestigious in scuba diving and gives you a ticket to one of the biggest clubs in the world - the PADI professionals. After completing this difficult course you will be able to work, leading dives, all over the globe. Oh, and it also helps when you're on the pull, 'I'm a Dive Master' goes along way...

Please note, this course is not for the faint hearted - it involves pass or fail exams of a scientific nature, fitness tests, and hard work.

At Sunlight Divers we do not rush our courses, nor do we cut corners; if you just want to get a Dive Master certification card in the shortest time possible then we might not be for you. If you want to learn about being a Dive Master, dive shops, the industry and everything that goes with it then come to us.

As a DMT (Dive Master Trainee) you are required to help out around the shop, this is for the benefit of both of us as you get to know how everything works, you will also assist an instructor on Openwater and Advanced courses, as well as other courses. All in all this will be fun and rewarding way to spend a couple of months!!

Please note, places on this course are VERY limited and we do expect a good attitude, level of good diving skill, and of course your PADI Rescue and EFR qualification before you
start.
